Biography

Noel joined Polaris in 2011 and is our European Venture Partner based in Dublin, Ireland.  He invests in seed- and early-stage technology companies.  Noel is interested in collaborating with European founders and teams looking to disrupt large markets, and who are seeking an investment partner to help them enter and scale in the U.S.

Noel established Polaris’ @dogpatchlabs Europe in Dublin’s ‘Silicon Docks’, where current residents or alumni include; BalconyTV, CoderDojo (HWF), ConnectedTrips, FluidUI, Intercom.io, Logentries, Profitero, Newship.

Prior to joining Polaris, Noel created and managed Launchpad, Ireland’s first tech accelerator program.  Noel also served as VP, Business Development, for IDA Ireland (Ireland’s foreign direct investment agency) in San Jose, California, with responsibility for the Internet and Digital Media sector. Between 2002 and 2006, he was the overseas officer responsible for bringing marquee greenfield projects to Ireland including, Google, Ebay, Paypal, Amazon and Yahoo.

Following his role at IDA, Noel established the email security company Brandmail Solutions, which today is used by Facebook, Otto, Postbank and Ebay. Earlier in his career, Noel was Managing Director of online travel management software firm, Nvision. Noel started his career in marketing on the agency side, working across multiple brands in the Pernod Ricard portfolio with a specific focus on below the line activity.

Noel is or was a mentor with IBM Smartcamp, Startupbootcamp Europe and Seedcamp. He is also a founding board member of the Hello World Foundation whose stated goal is to teach the world’s youth to code through its CoderDojo network.

Noel is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and Dublin Institute of Technology.
