John joined Polaris in 2011 and brings 20 years experience in corporate communications, public relations and marketing to his role. Using traditional and new media approaches, John fosters awareness of the firm’s investment strategy and serves as a communications advisor to portfolio companies on specific opportunities.
Prior to joining Polaris, John was a senior member of the corporate communications team at Genzyme Corporation. In addition to corporate communications, John led the franchise communications for Genzyme’s multiple sclerosis, oncology, and transplant programs. John also managed corporate communications and investor relations for Sirtris Pharmaceuticals (sold to GlaxoSmithKline in 2008).
In addition to John’s public company experience, he has experience in higher education and government relations. John managed public relations for Harvard Medical School as well as MassBio, the leading advocate for the Massachusetts biotechnology community.
John received his MBA from Boston College, where he was recognized with the Ray Keyes Endurance Award for Outstanding and Distinguished Performance. John received his MS in Communications from Boston University, and his bachelor’s degree from Bates College.
