Max Eisenberg joined Polaris in 2016 and serves as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer out of the firm’s San Francisco office. In this role, Max is responsible for supporting the firm in legal, compliance, and operational matters, including fund management and deal structuring for portfolio financings and exits.
Prior to Polaris, Max was a Partner and General Counsel of Sandbox Industries, a venture capital firm specializing in collaborative venture funds comprised of strategically focused corporations as LPs in the healthcare and food/agriculture industries.
At Sandbox, Max coordinated all legal, compliance and operational functions, which included providing guidance and support to Sandbox’s strategic initiatives, senior management, venture investments, and collaborative venture fund platform. Before Sandbox, Max spent several years as an associate in the corporate departments of both Latham & Watkins LLP and Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP.
Prior to his career in law, Max spent three years in San Francisco working as an analyst for a supply chain logistics start-up and as the marketing coordinator for a non-profit organization that provided micro-loans to low-income, minority entrepreneurs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Max graduated from Northwestern University School of Law and received his BA in history from Duke University.
In his spare time, Max DJs under the alias Kip Winters and founded Localized, a non-profit that creates music-based events to promote and raise funds for local charities. He and his wife are staunch advocates for dog rescue programs, especially those that work with American Staffordshire terriers (aka pit bulls).
